Welcome to Cardiff Bay and the Barrage Road Train

This is a family trip you can pre-book for parties such as schools, clubs, associations, senior citizens, Church and educational groups.

The Road train leaves Stuart Street opposite Techniquest On the hour,

with a live commentary to the Barrage.

The trip takes you through an area with some of the richest history in the world, with views of the spectacular Wales Millennium Centre, the National Assembly, Scott Harbour, the Norwegian Church, the Visitor Centre, and the Helwick Lightship.

It enters the restricted Port of Cardiff (Normally closed to the public) with the Roath Dock, Roath Basin and Queen Alexandra Dock. Still very much a working port with it’s terminals for Oil, Steel, Timber, Coal, Sand and other Container Vessels.

And crosses the Cardiff Barrage, with The Bristol Channel on the left, with views from the two Severn Bridges, to the North Somerset coastline (on a clear day!). To the right is the 500 acre freshwater lake or Cardiff Bay, with panoramic views across to the Bay from Penarth to Cardiff.

The round trip takes approx 50 mins with a 10 minute break at the Barrage,

or you can stay longer and return on a later trip?
